My Adventures in … Oklahoma City

I just got back from instructing in Oklahoma City at the Oklahoma Writers’ Federation Conference. And wow, what a great, nice group of people. Everyone there was just wonderful. As a bonus, it was held at the Embassy Suites, which, ahem, may or may not have free alcoholic drinks between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. (That was an unexpected bonus.) I got to see some literary agents who were there, including Louise Fury and Emmanuelle Morgen. Below see some photos and notes from the event.

This is me at a 1-on-1 consultation with a writer working on his pitch. I was told by one writer (who attends lots of conferences) that the OFW conference is one of the best nationwide at getting a good bang for your buck. The event is extremely affordable.
There were sessions, panels, lots of chances to pitch agents, and great dinners. This conference really seems to give attendees a lot for their money.
I taught twice — once on getting an agent in person and once on making money writing for magazines. Both speeches seemed to go over quite well.

Do NOT tell my dog I was giving this other pop some belly rubs.

This is my OFW volunteer, Larry Mike, who helped to shepherd me around all weekend and teach me lots of stuff about the region. He even took me to get a steak at the famous Cattleman's Cafe. (The steak was delicious.)

Naturally, if there is a piano, you will find me at it playing pop and rock songs. I'm not sure, but it looks like I was in the middle of some Bon Jovi right here.
